Interest in health, wellness, and beauty grows, creating a demand for skilled salon and spa specialists. At Northwest College School of Beauty, our mission is to offer this expanding industry a select group of health, wellness, and beauty professional who “perform with knowledge and confidence.” We offer progressive and learner-centered programs to attain that goal and ensure our graduates’ success.
We offer vocational training programs that provide our students with the technical skills, theoretical knowledge, and professional and personal attitudes necessary for a successful career in the salon and spa industry. We know that college and technical education require an investment of time, energy, and money. We are dedicated to providing you with the training and skills to achieve your goals. Students attending Northwest College School of Beauty receive:
Our students come from diverse backgrounds. Some are fresh out of high school, while others are business professionals looking for a career change. Some have worked in salons and spas for years and want to expand their skill set or learn to teach the next generation. But most if not all of Northwest College students have one thing in common: a love for the spa and salon industries.
Students at Northwest College benefit from our faculty’s different styles and experiences. During their time at the school, our instructors work hard to prepare students for whatever area of the salon and spa industry they choose to enter.
The core of the curriculum at Northwest College is teaching with experience of all techniques and skills, practical safety and sanitation skills, and an understanding of business practices. We start with theoretical knowledge that creates a foundation for students to build their skill set on, becoming more confident in their techniques and ability to meet the needs of their clients.
Along with actively fostering a positive and supportive student community, we’re actively involved in all of our schools’ communities. We partner with the Oregon Food Bank to participate in annual food drives to help eliminate hunger in Oregon. We encourage our student body to participate in these events and give back to the community their clients come from.
NW College has become very involved with SEMPER Fashion. This partnership gives students a chance to work in SEMPER’s fashion events, gaining experience doing hair and make-up on runway models. We’ve been a presenting sponsor of the Portland Fashion Week, bringing 20 students to work backstage each day of the show. We’ve also been involved in Eugene Fashion Week and Summer in the City fashion events. Students have also worked with Abby’s Closet at the Portland Convention Center.
We’re always looking for new opportunities for students to practice their skills and gain real-world experience. We’re committed to student success in everything we do.
If you are looking for a community where you can build your skills in beauty, we want to meet you. Book a tour on one of our campuses today!
