At Northwest College School of Beauty, we understand that every individual is unique, and so are their beauty needs. Treatment times, results, and aftercare can vary depending on the specific service and individual factors.
We encourage you to engage in open communication with your student aesthetician to ensure you have a clear understanding of what to expect. If you have any questions or concerns about a particular treatment, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Our primary goal is to ensure you feel informed, comfortable, and confident in the care you receive.
What You Need to Know
Laser hair removal is a revolutionary method of hair removal that employs laser light to target and permanently reduce hair in the treated area by destroying the hair follicle. For the most effective outcomes, this process is typically performed in a series of sessions, each spaced 4-6 weeks apart, during the hair’s growth phase, known as anagen. A series of six laser hair removal treatments is recommended for optimal results.
BEFORE YOUR LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT:
Preparation: Arrive at your laser hair removal appointment with the treatment area cleanly shaved. Unlike waxing, where hair should be grown out, laser hair removal targets the dark hair bulb beneath the skin’s surface. If the hair is too long in the treatment area, the procedure may not be as effective because it will focus on the longer, dark hair rather than the hair bulb.
Sun Exposure: Avoid sun exposure for 7-10 days prior to your laser treatment. If your skin is tanned, you may be asked to return once the tan has faded.
DURING YOUR LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT:
Consultation: Your Advanced Aesthetics Student will conduct a comprehensive consultation to discuss the treatment, aftercare, potential side effects, and any associated risks.
Treatment Preparation: After the consultation, the treatment area will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected with alcohol. You’ll also receive a pair of laser safety glasses to protect your vision.
Pain Management: Pain perception varies from person to person. We utilize the advanced Lutronic Clarity laser, which features skin-cooling Cryogen technology to minimize discomfort during the procedure. The first treatment may be slightly more uncomfortable since it targets the highest concentration of hair bulbs within the skin. Typically, the sensation is akin to a rubber band snapping against the skin. The duration of the treatment depends on the size of the treated area.
AFTER YOUR LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT:
Post-Treatment Sensation: Following the procedure, your skin may feel akin to a mild sunburn for approximately 24-48 hours, appearing slightly red and warm to the touch. Avoid tweezing, plucking, or waxing the areas currently undergoing laser hair removal. Shaving is permitted.
Hair Shedding: Over the next 7-14 days, the treated hair will begin to fall out. After 7 days, you may gently exfoliate the treated area to assist in hair removal.
Follow-up Appointments: For optimal results, ensure you return for your next session in 4-6 weeks to complete your series of treatments. Laser hair removal targets hair in the active growth phase, and not all hair is in this phase simultaneously. Achieving complete clearance of the treated area necessitates multiple sessions.
LUTRONIC SPECTRA LASER TATTOO REMOVAL: A Comprehensive Guide
Laser tattoo removal is a groundbreaking method that employs non-ablative laser technology to safely and effectively remove tattoos. This process selectively targets the tattoo ink within your skin, shattering it into smaller fragments that are naturally eliminated by your body. Crucially, this method leaves surrounding tissues undamaged, making it a safer choice with a reduced risk of infection compared to other removal techniques like excision and dermabrasion.
THE TREATMENT PROCESS:
Tattoo removal typically occurs in a series of sessions spaced 5-8 weeks apart, depending on individual skin healing and the complexity of the tattoo. On average, most individuals require 5-8 removal sessions, while darker, highly colorful, or deeply shaded tattoos may necessitate 10 or more sessions. To illustrate, the image below demonstrates how tattoo ink is broken down by the laser, resulting in the gradual fading of the tattoo.
WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER LASER TATTOO REMOVAL:
Preparation: Ensure that the treatment area is shaved before your Laser Tattoo Removal session. This is crucial because the laser targets the dark ink within the skin. Longer hair in the treatment area can diminish the effectiveness of the treatment.
Sun Exposure: Avoid sun exposure for 7-10 days before your laser treatment. If your skin is tanned, you may be advised to reschedule after your tan has faded.
Consultation: Your Advanced Aesthetics Student will conduct a thorough consultation to discuss the treatment, aftercare, potential side effects, and associated risks.
Numbing Options: If requested, topical anesthetics can be applied to numb the area for 30-45 minutes. Alternatively, an ice pack can be used for numbing.
Treatment Preparation: For those opting for numbing cream, after the numbing period, the area will be cleaned and disinfected with alcohol. You will be provided with laser safety glasses to protect your vision.
Discomfort Management: Laser Tattoo Removal can be uncomfortable, which is why numbing cream is available upon request to reduce discomfort during the procedure.
Immediate Aftercare: Following the laser treatment, you may notice the treated area turning whitish/gray or experiencing red discoloration. Pinpoint bleeding may also occur. This discoloration will evolve and lighten over 7-14 days during the healing process. During this period, handle the treated area with care, as some swelling and redness are normal.
Post-Treatment Sun Protection: For the next 7-10 days, avoid sun exposure to the treated area.
Scheduled Follow-up: To achieve optimal results, it is essential to return for your next treatment session in 5-8 weeks. Complete tattoo clearance is not attainable in a single session, as tattoos gradually fade with each treatment.

THE TREATMENT PROCESS:
Achieving your body goals typically entails a series of 4 treatments, each performed once a week to maximize the transformative effects.
WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER YOUR BODY CONTOURING TREATMENT:
Preparation: Arrive at your Body Contouring appointment with the treatment area cleanly shaved.
Hydration: Prioritize hydration for optimal results. Ensure you are well-hydrated 2-3 days before your treatment and on the day of your session.
Consultation: Expect a comprehensive consultation with your Advanced Aesthetics Student. They will cover the treatment specifics, aftercare guidelines, potential side effects, and associated risks.
Grounding Electrode: A grounding electrode pad will be placed on your buttocks or upper back to ground the radiofrequency current.
Treatment Experience: During and immediately after the treatment, you will experience intense heating. Fortunately, Body Contouring treatments are typically pain-free.
Recovery: There is no need for downtime or recovery; you can resume your regular activities and work immediately.
Post-Treatment Hydration: Maintain proper hydration for the two days following your Body Contouring session to ensure the best results.
Scheduled Follow-up: To achieve optimal results, return for your next treatment session in 7-10 days. Remember, consistency is key in achieving your body contouring goals.
Microneedling, often referred to as collagen induction therapy, is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that works wonders on your skin. This innovative procedure involves a specialized device equipped with fine needles that create micro-injuries on the top layer of your skin. These micro-injuries, although minuscule, trigger your body’s natural wound healing mechanisms, leading to increased collagen and elastin production, ultimately reversing and preventing signs of aging. Microneedling is a versatile solution effective in reducing fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, stretch marks, and scars.
Experience the Transformation:
The beauty of microneedling lies in its virtually painless procedure. After extensive research and testing of various Microneedling devices, we’ve chosen the InnoPen to ensure a comfortable and efficient experience for our clients. The InnoPen is a precision tool designed for medical use, featuring a unique dual spring-loaded disposable needle cartridge known as the InnoTip. This cartridge operates using an automated, vibrating stamp-like motion. At its core, the InnoPen boasts a patented disposable needle cartridge, the InnoTip, equipped with an innovative double-protective tip system, setting a new standard in microneedling safety. This innovative approach minimizes the risks associated with other automated microneedling devices employing single-wall open tip cartridges.
Rediscover your youthful glow without the cost and discomfort of surgical procedures.
WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER MICRONEEDLING:
Preparation: Discontinue the use of Retinoid products at least 12 hours before your Microneedling session.
Sun Protection: Avoid sun exposure for 48 hours prior to your Microneedling treatment as sunburned skin cannot be microneedled.
Consultation: Your Advanced Aesthetics Student will provide you with a comprehensive consultation to discuss the treatment, aftercare, potential side effects, and risks.
Treatment Preparation: After the consultation, the treatment area will be meticulously cleaned and disinfected with alcohol. For the best experience, arrive with clean skin, free from makeup, creams, and lotions.
Treatment Process: Once the skin is prepped, the treatment area will be divided into smaller sections and treated individually. Hyaluronic acid will be applied before and after treating each section.
Immediate Aftercare: Following the treatment, your skin may feel drier than usual and resemble a mild sunburn for approximately 24 hours. It might appear slightly red and feel warm to the touch. Avoid touching the treated skin if possible and consider changing your pillowcases and sheets.
Post-Treatment Care: Wait 24 hours before washing the treated area and applying makeup. After this period, gently wash the area with water and pat it dry. Refrain from using soaps or cleansers.
Continued Skin Care: For the first 3 days post-Microneedling, treat your skin gently. After this period, you can resume your regular skincare routine, including Retinoids.
Sun Protection: Ensure you wear SPF 25 or higher for 7-10 days following Microneedling.
Scheduled Follow-up: To achieve optimal results, return for your next session in 28 days and complete your series of treatments. The peak results of Microneedling are typically visible between 21-28 days following the treatment.
Webster’s Dictionary defines rejuvenation as the process of making something young, youthful, and filled with renewed vitality. Skin rejuvenation, in particular, encompasses a wide array of techniques, from laser and light-based treatments to chemical peels and non-ablative methods like microneedling. Our aim is to restore your skin’s natural vibrancy and youth, providing you with a revitalized and invigorated appearance.
Over time, our skin faces numerous challenges, including sun exposure, skin disorders, the natural aging process, and hereditary factors, all of which contribute to various skin irregularities. These issues can manifest as textural irregularities such as fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars, as well as pigmentation changes like freckles, sunspots, age spots, and visible blood vessels. Skin rejuvenation effectively addresses these textural concerns, minimizes pore size, and reduces redness. Furthermore, it can combat issues of skin laxity, loss of firmness, and the diminished radiance that may have been more apparent in your younger days.
At our center, we offer a range of services to revitalize your skin and help you rediscover your best self.

ACTIVE ACNE TREATMENT: Conquer Stubborn Acne with Laser Precision
Banish relentless acne with the power of laser treatments. Acne encompasses plugged pores like blackheads and whiteheads, along with inflammatory acne such as papules, pustules, nodules, or cysts, often affecting the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders, and upper arms. While most commonly associated with teenagers, acne knows no age boundaries, impacting individuals well into their forties.
The Spectra Peel offers numerous advantages for acne treatment, reducing the reliance on harsh prescription medications, immediately curbing sebum production by up to 30% after the initial session, and eliminating the need for comedone extraction. This treatment targets P. Acnes and sebaceous glands, normalizes follicular hypercornification, and reduces the size of nodules, cysts, and papules, even for severe, inflamed acne.
VASCULAR LESION TREATMENT: Reclaim Flawless Skin
Our vascular lesion treatment is a solution for addressing a range of vascular concerns, including birthmarks, telangiectasia, hemangiomas, spider veins, and rosacea. By precisely targeting the affected blood vessels with a laser, only the problematic vessels are broken down, leaving the surrounding healthy tissue and skin unharmed. Say goodbye to those blemishes and embrace the flawless skin you deserve.
Melasma is a common skin condition characterized by the presence of brown or tan patches on the skin. These symmetrical patches, often referred to as “spots,” can emerge on the cheeks, upper lip, forehead, and around the eyes. Melasma typically results from hormonal changes or sun exposure and is sometimes colloquially known as the “pregnancy mask.”
Our Melasma treatment holds the promise of reducing melasma while offering several benefits. This treatment is renowned for its lack of downtime, suitability for most skin types, and the potential for long-lasting results. It’s noteworthy that the Lutronic Spectra is one of only two lasers on the market to be FDA-cleared for melasma treatment, making it a trusted choice for addressing this condition effectively.
THE TREATMENT PROCESS:
Achieving optimal results generally involves a series of 10-12 treatments performed on a weekly basis.
WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER MELASMA TREATMENT WITH THE LUTRONIC SPECTRA:
Sun Protection: Avoid sun exposure for 7-10 days prior to your laser treatment. If your skin is tanned, you may be requested to reschedule once the tan has faded.
Comprehensive Consultation: Your Advanced Aesthetics Student will conduct a thorough consultation, delving into the specifics of the treatment, aftercare, potential side effects, and any associated risks.
Treatment Preparation: Following the consultation, the treatment area will be meticulously cleaned and disinfected with alcohol. To safeguard your vision, you’ll be provided with a pair of laser safety glasses.
Spectra Carbon Lotion Application: A layer of Spectra Carbon lotion will be applied to your face, left to sit for 10-15 minutes before the treatment commences.
Treatment Process: The Spectra Carbon lotion will be removed with the laser during the first pass, followed by a second pass. During the treatment, you may experience a heating sensation, but it is not typically painful.
Immediate Aftercare: Your skin may feel akin to a mild sunburn for approximately 24-48 hours after the Laser Melasma treatment, appearing slightly red and warm to the touch.
Post-Treatment Sun Protection: For the next 7-10 days, your skin will be more susceptible to sunburn. Ensure you wear SPF 25 or higher to protect your skin.
Treatment Schedule: It is advisable to come in for treatment each week to address Melasma effectively. While it can still be effective with intervals of 10-14 days, consistent treatment is key to achieving optimal results. You will notice results after the first Melasma treatment, but completing the series of treatments is recommended for long-lasting benefits.
