What You Can Learn in Our Barbering Program

Our barbering course covers 946 hours of in-depth training, including classroom learning and client experience. It is designed to give you a solid foundational knowledge of barbering, including hair design and skincare for both men and women. It’s also designed to help you build your confidence as a barber so you can enter the industry with the skills and knowledge you need.

Don’t Just Learn, Start Doing

We keep our class sizes small, so you get more one-on-one time with instructors and plenty of support and feedback to help you refine your skill set. Instructors use classroom lectures, technical manuals, guest speakers, demonstrations, and digital learning platforms to teach students. You can also refine your skills through laboratory projects and while working on real clients in a simulated barber shop under the supervision of licensed instructors.

We have an Online Career Center and on-site bulletin board that can inform you of new job opportunities for graduates. Our team is happy to help you prepare a resume and practice for future interviews. While we can’t guarantee employment after graduation, we can support you as you prepare applications and interviews!

Oregon Barbering School FAQs

How long does it take to complete the barbering program?

Students can complete the barbering course in as little as eight months. However, your completion date will depend on your schedule, attendance, and start date. Your admissions representative can work with you to determine your projected completion date and help you find the schedule that works best for you.

How is barbering school different from the hair design course?

Barbering primarily focuses on traditionally male haircuts, styling, and facial hair care. The hair design program is part of our full cosmetology course, focusing on a broader range of hair services, including wet styling, chemical treatments, and coloring. The complete cosmetology program expands your skills further by introducing nail technology and taking a deeper dive into esthetics. The full cosmetology course may be for you if you want the most flexible career path. Talk to your admissions representative about your career goals so they can advise you on your course options.

Is your school accredited?

Yes! We are accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS). Our accreditation means we meet rigorous educational standards. We’re also licensed by the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) and a member of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS).

Is financial aid available?

Yes, financial aid is available to those who qualify. As an accredited school, students can apply for certain federal student aid programs, including grants and low-interest loans. These programs can significantly reduce the cost of your education and make it more affordable. Talk to your admissions representative about your financial aid options so you can remove any financial barriers holding you back from your barbering goals.

Do you offer evening classes?

Yes! We offer both day and evening classes. This allows many students to fit in their barber training without sacrificing other commitments. Are You Ready to Become a Barber?

A campus tour is a great way to learn more about us, our school, and the barbering program. During your tour, an admissions representative will show you around the campus of your choice. You can get to see our classrooms and real-world barber shop environment. This is a great time to ask any questions about the school or program and see if our school is the right fit for you. After the tour, we can help you start the enrollment process!

To begin the enrollment process, you must:

Be at least 18 years old
Have proof of completion of high school or its equivalent (such as a GED)
Complete the school admissions forms and informational tour

You must also supply a state-issued ID and a social security card. Other information and a $100 registration fee may be required to secure your spot in the course. Talk to your admissions representative for more details.
