What You Can Learn in Our Teacher Training Program

Student teachers in our program can learn through classroom observation and by working with real beauty school students. It’s a great way to build your experience as an instructor and prepare for a future career in teaching!

Our teacher training course can prepare you to guide the next generation of beauty professionals! With over 1,000 hours of training, you can complete the course in as little as 25 weeks. You can learn how to prepare lesson plans, effectively demonstrate essential techniques, and provide constructive feedback on student evaluations. The training is designed to help you build the skills necessary to be an effective instructor who can guide aspiring beauty professionals as they work to develop their beauty industry potential.

During the first part of your training, you work closely with an experienced instructor as you observe classes and assist with classroom instruction. You can work alongside the instructor to check services such as perming, cutting, and coloring, helping new students refine their skills as they work on clients in the student salon.

In the final part of your training, you have an opportunity to teach two classes of your own under the supervision of your mentor instructor. This can help you build your real-world teaching experience and prepare for a career as a beauty instructor.

Program FAQ’s

How many places are available for the teacher training course?

We only accept three training teachers at any time. This allows us to give training teachers the one-on-one time they need with their mentoring instructors to develop their teaching skills. Our small enrollment numbers also mean that spaces are limited. If you are interested in enrolling in the teacher training program, we encourage you to confirm your spot soon by completing the enrollment process and paying your registration fee.

How much does the teacher training program cost?

The total cost of the teacher training program is $6,914. This includes your tuition, kit, books, and registration fee. If cost is a concern, please talk to an admissions representative to review your payment options.

Do I have to be certified in my field before becoming an instructor?

Yes. You must hold an active license in the field you want to teach. For example, if you wish to do your teacher training for nail technology, you will need a license as a nail technician in Oregon. If you don’t currently have a license, we have courses that can prepare you to sit for the state exam.

How much time will I spend with real students?

We know that spending time in the classroom with students is an essential part of your teacher training! That’s why most of your time in the program will be spent doing classroom observation and teaching your classes. This time is essential for building skills in classroom management and building your confidence as an instructor.

Does completing the training mean I can be an instructor at NW College?

No. Completing the teacher training course does not guarantee employment at our school. However, if you complete the course and attain your teacher certificate, you could be eligible to apply for positions if they become available.
